NITRO, W.Va. — A crew led by the Nitro Fire Department rescued an injured hiker Sunday afternoon.

The two-hour rescue took place on one of the back trails at Ridenour Lake. The hiker had suffered a broken ankle.

Fire department and Kanawha County Ambulance Authority crews used a roping system to make the rescue.

The hiker was taken to the hospital.
