BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. — A trial date has yet to be set in the case of Kyneddi Miller, the 14-year-old Boone County girl who was found dead in her Morrisvale home in 2024.

A pre-trial hearing was held in Boone County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon for Miller’s mother, Julie Miller, and grandparents Jerry and Donna Stone.

Jerry Stone was not present at Wednesday’s hearing. Stone is reportedly undergoing a competency evaluation at the William R. Sharpe, Jr., Hospital in Weston. The court is still awaiting those results.

Miller was found dead on the floor in what was described as a skeletal state back in April. Julie Miller and both grandparents have been indicted on charges that include murder by a parent, guardian, or custodian by refusal or failure to provide necessities, along with child neglect resulting in death.

Boone County Prosecutor Dan Holstein has compared the state Miller was found in as that of a Holocaust survivor.

Investigators say Miller was only outside a couple of times in the last four years of her life. Miller was pulled from public school around late 2019 or early 2020. She was then homeschooled beginning in 2021. Julie Miller cited concerns of COVID-19 was the reason for homeschooling.

Proper homeschooling assessments were not turned in as they were expected at the conclusion of Miller’s eighth grade year.

Julie Miller is still housed in the South Central Regional Jail on a $250,000 bond, while Jerry and Donna Stone are free on bond.

The next hearing is set for April 30.
