CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Over a dozen restaurants across the Capital City will be participating in Charleston Restaurant Week.
Restaurant week, which started Monday and spans through Saturday, is a way for restaurants to pick up business in a usually slow month of January by offering customers the chance to enjoy special three-course meals at a price range of $25-$50.
Steven Keith, “The Food Guy,” says this is a chance for establishments to get folks in the door with unique dining options.
“It was designed to encourage people to support these restaurants and businesses at a time where they’re typically slow by offering a value menu,” Keith said on “580 Live” with Dave Allen last week. “These restaurants are offering special three-course menus, in many cases featuring items that they don’t ordinarily have on their menu, so you get to try something new
Keith also says the promotional week doesn’t just benefit the customers.
“It really fills the seats. It fills the restaurants and increases tips for those service workers who often struggle this time of year,” Keith said.
Charleston Restaurant Week has been going strong since 2014, when a local seafood vendor called Buzz Food Service organized the event during the 2014 water crisis. Restaurants such as DT Prime, 1010 Bridge Road, Ristorante Abruzzi, and many other popular eateries will be participating in the event.
Keith says customers should plan ahead.
“You should definitely get a reservation,” Keith said. “Some of them will fill up pretty quickly and won’t be able to take walk ins, so if there is a place you definitely want to check out, I 100% recommend a reservation in advance.
Despite the likely better crowds, Keith says customers should test their luck.
“Don’t give up just because you think the restaurant is going to be full. There might be cancellations later or there might be space available where you can just walk up and grab a table,” Keith said.
