CHARLESTON, W.Va.— A Kanawha County man faces a maximum penalty of six months in prison after pleading guilty to obstruction of mail Wednesday.

According to court documents and statements made in court Brice Allen Pomeroy, 26, of Hernshaw, knowingly and willfully, on May 11, 2023, threw away approximately 227 pieces of mail by depositing a large plastic bag containing the mail pieces into a trash can located outside of a gas station in Charleston. At the time of the offense, Pomeroy was employed by a USPS vendor as mail handler at their location in Charleston.

Along with facing prison time, he also faces up to one year of supervised release, a $5,000 fine and he owes over two thousand dollars in restitution.

He is set to be sentenced on April 25.
