KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — An Ohio woman died Sunday on Interstate 77 in Kanawha County after being hit by a tractor trailer, according to State Police.
Alexis Vega, 25, of Cleveland, Ohio, was traveling south at around 7:30 p.m. when she crashed into the concrete median barrier after losing control of her vehicle. Vega crashed near mile marker 87, between the Marmet and Chelyan with her vehicle resting sideways in both southbound lanes.
According to State Police, a second vehicle stopped to assist Vega, who was walking in the traffic lanes. when a tractor trailer struck both Vega and the stopped vehicle.
Vega was taken to the hospital, but died of her injures.
The crash is still under investigation.
