ST. ALBANS, W.Va.— The A-to-Z Outlet promotion contest came to a close Saturday after they picked a finalist to be the winner of the $10,000 cash prize.
A to Z Outlet hosted a promotional event from November 11 until December 21. The event allowed entrants to register their name at the outlet once per day or at any other participating location that they announced.
Steve McElroy, from Huntington but lives in Charleston, was announced as the winner of the prize Saturday
580’s Dave Allen was at the event, and he spoke with McElroy who said that he wasn’t expecting to win.
“I was just sitting in my car and with about five minutes till I decided to walk over and see,” he said. “I stood there, I had my rosaries in my pocket and my name was called.”
The finalist was determined by the amount of participating registration locations and finalists had to be at the event in order to be eligible to win the prize.
When asked what he was going to do with the money, he said he was going to use it buy something for himself but also give back to the community.
“Actually, I am going to buy a new washer and dryer which I need, and I am going to put a thousand dollars towards the community for Christmas to make sure that somebody else gets something,” McElroy said.
