HUNTINGTON, W.Va.— A Huntington man has been sentenced to prison and has been ordered to pay restitution for vandalizing property of the United States.

Brian Scott Murray, 51, will spend one year and four months in prison and will be followed by three years of supervised released. He has also been ordered to pay $45,205.60 in restitution for injuring the property in excess of $1,000.

According to court documents and statement made in court, Murray threw multiple rocks at the Sidney L. Christie U.S. Courthouse and Federal Building in Huntington on March 16. He admitted to throwing the rocks at windows on the west side of the building and broke the outer layer of three windows. He further admitted to walking to the Huntington Police Department after he threw the rocks and telling multiple officers there what he had done.

He also has prior convictions including depredation of government property in United States Court for the District of Oregon, after he broke a window on the Gus J. Solomon United States Courthouse on April 8, 2019, in Portland, Oregon.
