PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va.—– A Hurricane women pleads not guilty in Putnam County Circuit Court Monday afternoon, in connection to the death of her 16-day old baby girl.
Brooke Kessler, 33, pleaded not guilty to death of a child by a parent or guardian, child abuse, child neglect resulting in death, strangulation, malicious assault and domestic battery in her infant daughter’s June death.
Kessler was arrested in June after a tropper was called to CAMC because the baby girl was unresponsive and had injuries including a broken arm, six broken ribs, bruising around the throat and the back of the head and bruising around the left eye.
She was indicted last month on six criminal counts, including the charges she plead not guilty too and child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
Her trial is scheduled for February 18 in Putnam County.
