PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. — According to State Treasurer Riley Moore, the Putnam County Commission will be receiving $360,131.96 in unclaimed property funds.

The funds come from stake dated checks that got turned over to the State Treasurer’s Office Unclaimed Property Division.

According to Putnam County Commission President Andy Skidmore, the funds will be placed back into Putnam County’s general fund.

Putnam County currently has more than 84,000 unclaimed property listings, which makes up $8.8 million of the $400 million of the unclaimed property funds in the state’s database.

Moore released a statement, reading, “My Office continues to be diligent in efficiently reuniting taxpayers with their lost funds at a record pace.”

$1 million worth of unclaimed property has been returned to citizens, businesses, and organizations in August, according to the State Treasurer’s Office. $4.1 million has been returned since the fiscal year began in July.
