HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A man has been charged with murder in the death of his wife in Huntington.

According to the Huntington Police Department, Robert Lee Daniels, 55, was charged with first-degree murder for the shooting death of his wife, Michelle Daniels, 47. of Huntington.

Police made their way to a residence for a wellness check on 12th Avenue in Huntington last Friday, where Michelle Daniels was found with “serious injuries.” She was taken to the hospital and later died on Sunday.

Upon the death of his wife, detectives began to search for Daniels for questioning, alerting authorities in Mingo County and Pike County, Kentucky to help, as he was frequently in the two areas.

Daniels was arrested Wednesday in Mingo County on unrelated charges that included threats of terroristic acts and retaliation against a public official.
