CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Three new elementary schools in West Virginia are being recognized with National Blue Ribbon status.

Gilmore Elementary School in Sandyville, Kellogg Elementary School in Huntington, and Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Fairmont were announced as the newest schools honored Monday afternoon.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was formed to give schools recognition for the hard work of its students, teachers, and supporting communities in creating a safe and welcoming school.

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin offered his congratulations to the three schools Monday with a statement reading, “Young people are our future, and I’m incredibly proud of the students, faculty, and families who helped their schools earn this prestigious award for 2024. Gilmore, Kellogg, and Pleasant Valley Elementary Schools represent the best of the Mountain State. Gayle and I join all West Virginians in congratulating them on this well-deserved academic distinction and community accomplishment.”
