ST. ALBANS, W.Va. — The St. Albans branch of the Kanawha County Public Library chain is reopen again after nearly a month of renovations.
St. Albans Library Branch Manager Melissa Burchett said the abatement work the library had to go through went well and is all complete. However, Burchett said they still have some construction work left to do on the second floor, which will remain closed until October 10.
She said this is affecting some of the library’s services they offer.
“As of right now we do have limited services, for example, as of right now we do not have internet access,” Burchett said. “However, we can check people in and out with the materials that we have in the building, and we can also request materials from other locations.”
Burchett said they have also had some tile on both floors replaced and it has made the areas of the library look a lot nicer.
“The tile work, it looks great,” she said. “When we reopen the second floor the public will be able to see more of the tile work, we do have one section down here that they can see, and they can see the change in it,” she said.
She said it feels great to get this work done.
“I think it looks great and I think the community will enjoy the new look of the library,” said Burchett.
This follows a series of other work the library has already undergone, such as the addition of an elevator.
Burchett said it also feels great to have the library back open for patrons.
“We were very excited to welcome back patrons this morning when we opened our door,” said Burchett. “We’ve had several come in to say that they’ve missed us and they’re very happy that we reopened.”
