The West Virginia Democratic Party event, the Roosevelt Kennedy dinner fundraiser is being hosted this Friday at 5 p.m. at the Civic Center in Charleston.

The dinner event is aimed to rally support for the Democratic candidates and causes in West Virginia.

Andy Beshear, Kentucky’s Governor, will be coming to West Virginia to be the keynote speaker at the event and he will focus on three main topics, economic development, Heathcare access and protecting reproductive freedoms.

Beshear emphasized that the event will be used to see how Democrats can help the country move forward, while focusing on those topics.

“Friday is going to be a good time, where we can talk about how Democrats can win everywhere, all over this country,” Beshear said on “Talkline” with Hoppy Kercheval Monday. “But also, how we move just toward a less partisan world, how we get to a place where were not boiling as a country.”

He also wants people in the future, no matter what your party affiliation is, to know that they can still care about their neighbors.

“Where we remember, even if we disagree with our neighbors, we want them to do well and we want their kids to do well, so how we get to that better future,” Beshear said.

Getting to a better future is going to be difficult but Beshear said that if we recognize that when people get up in the morning, they are most likely going to be thinking about their day ahead, and not what’s happening with the presidential race.

“I think we get there by recognizing that most people when they wake up in the morning, there not thinking about the presidential race, “Beshear said. “There thinking about their job, and whether they make enough to support their family, there thinking about their next doctor’s appointment, for themselves, for their kids, their parents there thinking about the roads and bridges they drive that day, their thinking about the public school that they dropped their kids off at and there thinking about their public safety.”

Focusing on these small things and providing opportunities for jobs and healthcare will help propel people forward and not steer them to right or to the left Beshear said.
