CHARLESTON, W.Va. –The Charleston Dirty Birds have clinched a spot in the playoffs,
Dirty Birds Manager of Media Relations Jill Gearin said thanks to a season marked by unwavering community support and a surge of excitement. This momentum has carried the team into the postseason, where they are set to make a impact.
Gearin detailed the special promotion plan for the playoff games.
“Promotions are a little bit different. We’re basically combining all of our best promotion of the season into these 2 days. So both days kids 12 and under get in for free, it’s bark in the park where you can bring your dog, and we also have 2 dollar hot dog, soda, beer, and popcorn,” Gearin said.
The Dirty Birds’ start a best of 5 playoff series Tuesday night and the next game will take place on the following Wednesday. The team has been drawing record breaking crowds all season and the play offs are set to continue this trend. “The support has been amazing” and “we are on track to break records” according to Gearin.
Local businesses and fans have rallied behind the Dirty Birds, providing both emotional and financial support. Gearin said the team also saw support at last weekend’s RibFest.
“We just had a Dirty Birds table out and people automatically come up and say hey what going on with the Dirty Birds, I heard you’re making the play offs and it really is a testament to Andy Shay and the management as well and how they want to be part of this community”
With the playoffs just around the corner, anticipation is building. The Dirty Birds aim to make a deeper playoff run this year then they did in 2021 and are hoping the residents of Charleston will come out to support them.
