CHARLESTON, W.Va. — An investigation is underway after two people stole copper wiring from CAMC General Saturday morning shutting off power for a short time to the hospital.

The copper was stolen from an temporary industrial HVAC system sitting in front of the hospital on Charleston’s East End. The theft caused a breaker to trip which shut off power to a section of the hospital.

A back-up generator was able to get power back on quickly, a hospital official said.

An investigation into the theft is underway.
