CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Rain finally came down in the form of a thunderstorm for some West Virginia areas Thursday evening, and it has left thousands without power.
According to Appalachian Power’s outage map, more than 6,000 people in Kanawha and Wayne Counties are without power. In addition, 765 are without power in Putnam County, while 217 are without power in Cabell County.

AEP is reporting a total of approximately 3,800 customer out. Wertz Ave area of Charleston, east to Campbells Creek, and the Kanawha City area from the 36th St Bridge east to Rush Creek. AEP is still assessing the issue. No estimate restoral time.
