Search underway for armed robber around Nitro Marketplace

NITRO, W.Va. — A search is underway in a thick-wooded area behind the Nitro Marketplace where there was a person-on-person armed robbery Wednesday morning.

Authorities said the victim was a contractor working on some roads behind the shopping facility when he was approached and robbed at a few minutes after 10:00 a.m. The suspect ran toward the wooded area.

Police from Nitro, St. Albans and South Charleston along with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department are using K-9 units, ATVs and drones in the search.
