CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A small plane had to make an emergency landing at West Virginia International Yeager Airport in Charleston Tuesday evening.
The plane, which had two people aboard, made the landing just after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening after experiencing a right gear collapse. The incident forced the runway at CRW to close, and it remains closed while crews work to get the aircraft off safely. The runway is, however, expected to be clear soon.
CRW spokesperson Paige Withrow says no one was injured in the small aircraft.
“Luckily no injuries,” Withrow said. “It was a small GA aircraft, so we should have the runway up and running here in just a moment.”
Withrow said this incident may affect some flights, and CRW passengers should check with their airlines to monitor the status.
“We will let everyone know as soon as the runway is back open, but make sure that you check with your airlines before you come to the airport,” Withrow said.
