CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County man was sentenced Wednesday to over four years in prison for the distribution of fentanyl.

Travell Lamar Johnson, 45, of Big Chimney, will have three years of supervised release after the four year and three month-term is served.

According to court documents, Johnson sold approximately 3.5 grams of fentanyl in June 2023 to a confidential informant at a gas station in Charleston.

Two days later, Johnson sold another 4.8 grams of fentanyl at the gas station for $500 and made an agreement with the confidential informant to sell 10 grams of fentanyl less than a week later.

Johnson’s co-defendant, Alexis Nicole Davis, interrupted the transaction once she recognized the potential buyer was a confidential informant. Police apprehended both Johnson and Davis and found 9.8 grams of a mixture with fentanyl.

Johnson has been in trouble with the law multiple times, including six convictions for drug-related offenses.

Davis, 26, of Charleston, awaits sentencing after she pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl in May.
