Shrewsbury, W.Va. — An investigation is ongoing following a physical altercation between a man and Cedar Grove Police Chief Jack Ice on Monday.
Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched at around 2:30 when Ice called for backup after having to use force on a man on the Capitol Recycling parking lot in Shrewsbury.
The man involved was allegedly riding on a bicycle on the parking lot when Ice stopped him. In the encounter, the physical altercation broke out, which is when Ice called for officer assistance.
When Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, the man had been detained after Ice received help from multiple nearby law enforcement agencies.
Detectives continue an investigation on the origin of the stop made by Ice, along with the allegations of excessive force.
No arrests were made, and no charges have been filed against Ice or the suspect.
