CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Kanawha County Commission is expected to choose a new county prosecutor at its meeting Thursday evening.
Prosecutor Chuck Miller announced his retirement earlier this month, effective Thursday.
Three Republicans, Assistant Prosecutor Debra Rusnak, Assistant Prosecutor Don Morris and Gregory McVey have applied for the job.
Rusnak won the GOP primary election and will face Democrat John Mitchell in November.
The person chosen Thursday will serve the rest of this year. The newly elected prosecutor will take office Jan. 1.
The county commission meeting begins at 5 p.m. Thursday.
