CROSS LANES, W.Va. — State police have now charged a Kanawha County man with murder in connection with the discovery of a Cross Lanes man along with burglary and animal cruelty in connection with crime scenes in two counties.

Billy Cadle, 44, of Cross Lanes, is being held in the South Central Regional Jail on charges from Kanawha and Putnam counties.

Troopers responded to a residence in Poca Saturday and found the property had been burglarized and two cats killed.

Not long after troopers learned of similar circumstances at a residence on Walnut Valley Drive in Cross Lanes. They traveled there and found the body of Michael Ols, 53, of Cross Lanes, who had been murdered. Troopers also found two dead dogs.

Cadle is charged with first degree murder in Kanawha County with additional charges pending. He’s also charged with daytime burglary and two counts of animal cruelty in Putnam County.

Cadle’s bond is $50,000 on the Putnam County charges but he’s being held on no bond on the murder charge.

Troopers are continuing their investigation.
