CULLODEN, W.Va. — A Cabell County mother and her five-year-old daughter are dead following a murder-suicide Friday in Cabell County.
Cabell County Sheriff Chuck Zerkle said Leah Cart, 39, shot her daughter Olivia and 7-year-old son Jonah before she took her own life.
It happened on Benedict Road in Culloden.
Jonah Cart was transported to a Huntington hospital for surgery.
Zerkle said law enforcement had no previous history of responding to the house.
According to Cabell County Schools, grief counselors will be in place at Culloden and Milton elementary schools next week.
