2 charged with armed robbery in Putnam County

RED HOUSE, W.Va. — Two people were arrested in Putnam County for allegedly robbing a man at gun point.

Nicholas Woodin, 26, of Nitro, and Markayla Stowers, 23, of St. Albans, are in custody. Woodin is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy and wanton endangerment. Stowers is charged with armed robbery and conspiracy.robbery

According to a news release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call on Manila Creek Road in Red House where a man said his truck had been stolen at gunpoint.

The victim, Timothy Knapp, told investigators he picked up Woodin and Stowers. They then asked the victim to take them to Manila Creek Road.

Woodin and Stowers walked to a house and then walked back to the truck. That’s when deputies said Woodin pulled a gun on Knapp inside the vehicle. Knapp was told to get out of the truck and hand over his wallet money and keys. The suspects then stole the vehicle, according to the release.

Knapp said Woodin fired another shot in his direction while they escaped in the truck.

State Police stopped the vehicle in Poca.

Woodin and Stowers are now housed at the Western Regional Jail.
