State BOE approves changes for Clendenin-Bridge Elementary

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Board of Education approved the merger of Kanawha County’s Bridge and Clendenin elementary schools Wednesday and plans to close the school for a new structure to be built within the next two years.

The vote was approval of a change in the Kanawha County school system’s school facilities plan.

Clendenin Elementary was destroyed in the June 2016 flood. Students have been attending at Bridge Elementary. The two schools will be one in the new building to be constructed. It’s expected to be finished by the fall of 2020.
